The story follows Henry and his friends  at a mountain bike camp in the wilderness. Only the head counsellor, Shifty, is not who he seems to be, and puts them all to work. Worse still, every time Henry tries to find a bit of freedom, something goes wrong! This is a story about friendship, bravery, sticking to your word, and discovering animals believed to be extinct. Using a Powerpoint presentation, I describe where my ideas originated, and how pre-historic creatures like the short-faced bear, mega sloths and the sabre-tooth tiger roamed our lands a mere 10,000 years ago. I&#8217;ll also show how Henry and his friends create a simple machine &#8211; an Archimedes screw &#8211; to solve a difficult problem. I engage students in discussion about creative writing, and how the book was written and illustrated. The presentation includes a reading, activities, and a question and answer period.
